How to make website working

  1. Here is the error I get:
    #1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near "DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8" at line ...
    Do you have any suggestions?

    Just delete "ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8" from SQL sentences.
    You have the version of MySQL prior to 4.1, but it doesn't matter in general.
    Without UTF-8 you cannot use non-latin letters in the CMS.

  2. It tells me that the file is corrupt and I can not open it - what do I do?

    Your file must be OK.
    Try another program for extracting files from archive, for example Power Archiver.

Usage of Content Management System

  1. Where is your CMS?

    After your website is uploaded and installed on internet-server, CMS is situated in catalog "admin" of your webpage, for example at address "". Username is your e-mail address and password is what you gave. You can change them in the file "admin/custom.php" if you know how to do this, or ask your hosting provider about this.

  2. First time in.

    When you are first time logged in, CMS asks you to "Add language". You can input "English" or anything what you want. Also you can input the name of the website here, for example "ABC Corp. homepage", and description of the website, for example "For best service in USA turn to ABC Corporation".

    Press "Save".

    General rule: the name of the language, if you have more than one language on your website, will appear when you make first page on this language.
    If your website has one language, the name of the language doesn't appear.

    Contact bar, if you insert contact data in it, will appear at the bottom of each page.

  3. Making pages.

    You are ready for making pages now.
    If you have Multiple Pages Website, press "Structure" and start to insert names of the pages of your website. After inserting first page, for example "About us", you have a choice. Next pages you can place in main menu, or in submenu.
    Please take in consideration, that main menu is horizontal and limited in length. Because of this you should not place more than 7-8 pages in main menu.
    On the contrary, submenus are vertical and, because of this, endless. Because of this don't try to put all information in main menu, use submenus.
    Your CMS have 1 level of submenus.
    At every page you have possibility to enter keywords for the search engines. Try to enter keywords, important for your business, this way that they would be presented in the texts on this page also.

  4. Storing files and pictures.

    You may upload and store pictures and other files for use in website and just for having them on internet-server.
    Just browse your PC, press on name of needed file and press "Upload" button. The direct address of the file on the server will appear.

    NB! Don't try to upload too big files, in megabytes, to the server. Normally it is impossible and prohibited by hosting provider. You will have no result.

  5. Making galleries.

    Give the name of the gallery and start uploading pictures. Your CMS makes thumbnails from your pictures automatically.

    It will be good, if the size of the picture will be optimized before upload. The optimal size is 25-30% from the screen square. Use photo editing programs for this - Windows Paint, Microsoft Photo Editor, or same.

  6. Making forms.

    You may need use forms in your website.
    Making them is easy.
    Give the name of the form.
    Give the e-mail address for sending data from the form.
    You can make before up to two hidden pages for showing them after sending data - in case of successful sending and in case of unsuccess. Give theirs addresses in the following form:

    where xx is the ID of this page in the website. The ID of the page you can see in browser status line, when you put the cursor over the name of the page in the Structure.
    Further give the names and types of the fields of the form.
    You can design as many forms as you wish and give them different target e-mail addresses.

  7. Editing pages.

    1. Text placing on the page.
      You have four controls for placing text - "Left", "Right", "Centered", "Justified".
    2. Horizontal bar.
      You can insert horizontal bar in any place of the page.
      Press "Save".
    3. Making lists
      You can make ordered or unordered lists.
      Press "Save".
    4. Text color.
      You can choose from 70 colors. First select the text and then change color.
      Press "Save".
    5. Text background color.
      First select the text and then change background color.
      Press "Save".
    6. Links.
      Select by cursor text, which is the future link and then press the button "Add link". The control window will open.
      Input the address of the link (URL), including "http://"
      Mark the place for opening the link - in the same or new browser window.
      Press "OK".
      Press "Save".
    7. Pictures.
      Go to your Files' catalog, select by cursor one file address and copy it into the buffer memory - press "Ctrl" and "C" buttons on the keyboard simultaneously.
      Go back to the Structure mode and choose needed page.
      Put the cursor in the place, where the picture must appear and then press the button "Add picture". The control window will open.
      Paste the address of the file into first line from the buffer memory. For doing this press "Ctrl" and "V" buttons on the keyboard simultaneously.
      You can also mark alternative text and placing of the picture.
      Press "OK".
      Press "Save".
    8. Galleries.
      Put cursor in right place.
      Press button "Add gallery".
      Choose your gallery from the list.
      Press "OK".
      Press "Save".
    9. Forms.
      Put cursor in right place.
      Press button "Add form".
      Choose your form from the list.
      Press "OK".
      Press "Save".
    10. Style of the text.
      You have four conrols for changing style of the text - "Bold", "Underlined", "Italic" and complex button "Font".
      Select needed part of the text and press needed button.
      Press "Save".
    11. Tables.
      You can insert tables with different parameters, also with different style, color and width of the border. You can also easy add and delete rows and columns.
      Press "Save".
  8. Advanced formatting
    If You have difficulties in placing texts, links or tables into the CMS, you can prepare text previously in text editor, like MS Word, and then copy and paste it into the CMS.
